Hi! Welcome to Conversations in the Parlor. The blog portion of my art website. This blog is years in the making, so as I write this first post, I would like for you to imagine the biggest smile on my face, followed by a huge sigh, at the thought of you being here and reading this…thank you!

First and foremost, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Angelea Taylor, and I am an artist/content creator, specifically for, but not limited to, galleries and museums. 2 years ago, I became the creative director for social media videography for Del Caiman. An international Cuban art gallery and agency, representing renowned Cuban Artists with the mission of providing a spotlight for Cuban culture. Pretty cool right? I know :) In addition to the gallery, I have been a content creator for over 7 years. It is truly my passion to tell stories, take seemingly mundane moments, and make them extraordinary through my lens. I have started this blog many times over the past 6 years. Yes, 6 YEARS! As wild as that is to write, I see now that I just needed to live a bit more life and settle into me more, in order to finish a blog I’d genuinely be proud of. And now, I am launching the blog of my dreams, centered around one of my greatest passions, ART.
But how did I get here?
In October of ‘22, I saw the Movie TAR—a film by Todd Fields, starring Cate Blanchett. The cinematography completely blew my mind. I left that theatre with a completely different lens on life. Quite literally. The movie was clean, abstract yet minimal, and all-around visually stunning. I began actively seeking out spaces that had a similar aesthetic. I found myself in museums and galleries, as if wandering around, admiring architecture was my job. The benefits, being endless inspiration and motivation. With each passing museum, and each passing gallery, I became more and more aware of the architectural interior of those spaces. My goal now, shifting from observing and consuming the art, to wanting to view the art the way the architect intended. Thus opening up a whole new level of appreciation for the spaces explicitly designed for the digestion of art. From there, I began chasing gallery openings and art events in those spaces, wanting to pull away the veil of the art world. Going beyond the walls, and now wanting to know the people who dwell within them. This sophisticated and intriguing collective of people. I began documenting these events and highlighting the space itself. But beyond that, I began capturing the ambiance of the space—the energy of those different art affairs.
I had found my niche.
Now, fast forward to the beginning of 2023. As I began spending every weekend in a new gallery, with people I had never seen before, immersing myself in the art world, the more intrigued I became. Which brings me to Conversations in the Parlor.
The idea behind Conversations in the Parlor, is that of 18th century Paris art salons. The salon, also known as the parlor, was the room in the house used for conversation and entertainment. This is where guests would be received and depending on the status of the hosting family, the most beautiful art, by the most celebrated artists of the day would be on display. I like to think that many different conversations were had in those salons. Scandalous, intellectual, enlightening, and all within an ambient, intimate space designed specifically for conversation. My dream for this forum is for it to be just that. The online version of an 18th-century art parlor. An intimate setting, where we discuss the art on the parlor walls so to speak, as well as art in its many forms.
What I have discovered these past 6 years, is how much I love to document life the way I view it. I believe we all have a unique way of interpreting the reality around us. Capturing art in galleries and museums has flowed into how I capture and interpret my daily life. This is the ultimate romance blog, where I invite you to join me as we fall in love with life...together.
The art in the parlor, while rooted in the passion for fine arts, art spaces, etc. will also focus on all aspects of art. Including interior architecture, food, travel, and even love. Because why limit the conversation? I will be sharing my favorite galleries of note in the different cities I travel to, along with other recommendations that have enriched my life. I will also be sharing personal experiences, some relating to art, and others, simply my own human experience. It’s nice to relate to people, so in sharing aspects of my human existence, I’m hoping one of you will feel seen, heard, and understood. While I have an idea of what I want this blog to be, I am also learning to let creativity and expression flow and evolve. So please bear with me, as we both see what that means as this community grows.
So again, thank you so much for being here. For joining the conversation in the parlor community, where we welcome curiosity, enlightenment, open-mindedness, and the idea that life is what we make it. Art.
